This post is all about how the word “roll” is misused in Japan in bike riding contexts such as in MTB and BMX short track riding. Hence, it would actually be totally pointless if I tried to translate the whole article to English,
While “to roll” means to stay on the ground over bumps, as opposed to jumping, in English worldwide, that term is used in Japan to refer to the act of manualing over multiple bumps.
So here I am, trying to inform the domestic crowd what’s happening and what’s wrong.
Hopefully someday in the near future we’ll get it sorted, as that kind of discrepancy would never benefit anyone.
